Stylistic Decisions.

I have decided to go for a noir style choice with a very dark and dreary mood which will dissolve into a more light hearted style as colour is gradually introduced to the environment.

I have chosen a more low polly character design as the sharp edges look appropriate for the darker environment, and the world will be stylistic realism to as I want the world to look believable but I don’t want photorealism.

The entire project will hinge on the lighting systems so something too stylistic will look out of place and photo realistic may be too much work for objects and props which will spend most of their time hidden in dark atmospheric allays

Noir (or noire) films started as a term for ‘B’ movies with low budgets and inexperienced writers/ directors which often depicted stories of crime and/or romance but the term has grown sines its early days.

As I will be creating a 3d environment I thought video games would be good for research as I could manipulate the camera and find appropriate areas for inspiration for dark alleyways.

Most games I researched I only turned on for 20 minutes as I wanted to get through a lot so I asked friends suggestions for some cheap games and if they could lend me some with the right aesthetic.
